Compline by Candlelight Saturday, October 17 • 7:00 PM Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul

Join The Psalterium Institute for an evening of ancient prayer and music: the Church’s night office, Compline, sung by candlelight in the breathtaking setting of the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul. The service will feature Gregorian chant, sacred choral works performed by the Institute’s chamber choir, brief readings, prayers, and sustained silence — a deliberate space for reflection, rest, and renewal.

The service is open to people of every background and tradition who seek a peaceful, prayerful close to the day. Please arrive a few minutes early to be seated; the Basilica’s acoustics and candlelight encourage stillness and attention.

Presented by The Psalterium Institute We offer opportunities for children and adults to sing early sacred music at a high level, contribute to the renewal of sacred music in Maine, and encourage choral life through classes and private study. Compline by Candlelight continues our commitment to the living tradition of Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, and the Liturgy of the Hours.
